Committee on Race and Diversity

MIT is committed to creating and maintaining a culturally and racially diverse environment, but this diversity is hollow unless the individuals that comprise MIT can interact with each other in meaningful ways. The Committee on Race and Diversity strives to ensure effective communication across all groups, demonstrating MIT’s high-level recognition that numerical diversity is necessary, but not sufficient, for a vital campus.

The Institute Community Equity Officer sponsors the Committee on Race and Diversity (CRD). The Committee’s membership represents all segments of the MIT community—faculty, staff, undergraduate and graduate students, and post docs.

The Committee on Race and Diversity (CRD) is a Standing Institute Committee that reports to the President.
