Looking for new leadership for MIT’s Institute Community and Equity Office

Since its creation 11 years ago, the Institute Community and Equity Office has served as a coordinating hub for MIT’s commitment to inclusive excellence. Under the direction of MIT’s first Vice President for Equity and Inclusion, Karl W. Reid, the ICEO convenes people, processes, and systems to advance the Institute’s mission.

The ICEO has evolved dramatically over the past decade, as has its growth and impact. Under Dr. Reid’s leadership, which began in the spring of 2024, the office is embarking on a new chapter of engagement with the community.

Posting Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Equity and Inclusion, the ICEO’s Executive Director will serve as a key strategic liaison between schools, departments, external stakeholders, and central administration. They will work collaboratively with senior leadership, diversity professionals, faculty, staff, and students across the Institute to build community and advance MIT’s vision for inclusive excellence, and lead the continuous advancement of the Strategic Action Plan for Belonging, Achievement, and Composition (SAPBAC) at both the Institute and local levels.

The Executive Director will also research and identify current and emerging issues, trends, and opportunities in community engagement, and they will be responsible for strategic planning, execution, and supervision of programs and initiatives in the ICEO that have a measurable impact on the vision and mission of MIT.
